CANDIDATE PLEDGE

When policy discussions become more about scoring points than achieving progress, we all lose. That’s why we are calling on candidates to take a stand and be a model for healthy discourse aimed at solving problems and finding common ground. We need leaders who can demonstrate it’s OK to disagree. We need to see our leaders approach political disagreements with dignity, not contempt.

A Commitment to Common Ground Over Chaos: A Pledge to Serve All Americans

As an elected official, I pledge to uphold the principles of the Common Ground Over Chaos campaign and to work with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to develop practical solutions to the real issues faced by Americans every day. I commit to:

  • Practical Solutions Over Partisanship: I commit to prioritizing results-oriented policies that address real-world problems, over divisive partisan politics. Whenever possible, I will work across party lines to achieve meaningful progress for our community and nation.
  • Collaboration Over Confrontation: To get important things done, I will actively seek to bridge divides and focus on our shared values. I pledge to engage in respectful dialogue with those who hold different views and work towards solutions that benefit all constituents.
  • Strengthening Democratic Institutions: I pledge to support and strengthen our democratic institutions, including public education, fair elections and transparent governance.
  • Local Focus, National Impact: I commit to listening to and addressing the concerns of my local constituents, focusing on policies that have tangible impacts on their daily lives.
  • Transparency and Accountability: I pledge to be transparent in my decision-making processes and to hold myself accountable to my constituents. I will regularly communicate my actions and the reasoning behind them.
  • Civic Engagement: I commit to promoting civic education and encouraging active participation in our democratic processes among all members of our community.

By signing this pledge, I affirm my commitment to ending the stonewalling in government and to finding common ground with my colleagues so that we can deliver real results for the people. I pledge to serve all Americans with integrity and empathy and to engage civilly with those who may not agree with me.
